second story deck with hot tubFrom: bullhc@yahoo.com Category: Decks Remote Name: 69.68.105.100 Date: 14 Mar 2006 Time: 04:31 PM
CommentsI currently have a hot tub, located on ground level on a concrete patio. Directly above this location, is a deck off the second floor (12' above existing patio). I would like to relocate the hot tub to this area. Assuming an empty hot tub weighs 500 lbs., and will hod 37 cubic feet of water, and I might have 6 people at an average of 150 lbs., and the deck needs to be 16' x 8', I realize I need a better engineered deck, not just for safety but also to appease the city. I am open to constructing the deck from a steel frame, or wood, possibly even concrete, either is satisfactory. In addition, I want to continue to utilize the concrete patio directly below the new deck, therefore, the legs would need to be spaced at a minimium distance from each other of 14' x 8', thereby making it "free-standing"
I have been quoted an unbelievable amount to have this drawn. Is there a location I can obtain pre-drawn plans, or does anyone have any easy suggestions?
