Hello, I am building a gable roof over a back patio. The roof itself will be 14' x 20'. I would like to set the posts 12' and 18' apart respectively at the corners. Can I build up a beam from 2x10s or 2x12s to span 18' or do I need an LVL for this distance? As I live in Texas, snow will not be a problem. Thanks!
