I am building a garage with a hip roof. The dimensions are 24 x 46 feet. I want to support the ridge beam with two beams going across the 24 foot width of the garage. The roof will have rafters, wood and ashphalt shingles. I will support the ridge beam with 2x4's from the two support beams to the ridge beam. I need to figure out the size of the ridge beam and the size of the two beam which will be supporting the ridge beam. thanks pat
