I just finished laying a travertine floor with 1/16" grout joints. I would recommend checking each tile for squareness and size before you lay it. You may have to trim some tiles a hair because they are a hair too big in order to give yourself a grout joint. If you don't, you will have some tiles that are butted together. You want to make sure your outer edges are aligned with each other. This will help keep your grout joints aligned. It helps if you use your level as a straight edge. And watch your chalk lines. Once you get off, it's very difficult to fix. There is not a lot of room for error. It is a lot of work but the floor will look gorgeous when you're finished!
