Re: Water Main RepairFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Plumbing Remote Name: 207.82.209.233 Date: 01 Nov 2002 Time: 08:40 PM
CommentsWe do not recommend replacing your broken 1" water supply line with a 3/4" line. This drop in diameter could severly impact your flow. Unfortunately, you may be faced with running in a whole new line. Sometimes this can be done overhead if you want to avoid breaking into concrete. Of course, if it's overhead and you live in a cold area, you need to consider proper pipe insulation to prevent freezing. We suggest you do it right and put in a new 1" or 1-1/4" line back to the water meter. Of course, be sure there are NO copper joints under the foundation, as these are prone to leaking in the future.
