You can cover cement block walls with a range of materials, including a skim coat of plaster (which can give a warm, hand-troweled look), drywall (typically with small wood spacers to allow air flow between the walls and the concrete blocks, or tile, marble, slate, travertine or granite. Which material you choose depends on the look you're trying to achieve. If the CMUs are not filled solid with concrete (they should be), we recommend using a crack isolation membrane over the wall to prevent cracks at the joints from transferring through to tile placed on the wall (assuming you use tile, marble or other similar material).
