I'd like to replace the main support in the house I just bought with a single I-Beam support to open up the basement. It would span 31'. The basement is cinder-block construction about 30yrs old, and is in excelent condition. The house is a bungalo, open concept 800sq ft with no garage attached. Is this feasible with maximum one off-center support (to be concealed in a predefined wall) or none at all. Any tip or resource reguarding this type of home modification would be appreciated. Thanks.
