Wood beams and spanning 30' over garage?

I am adding a 30'x30' garage with 3 bedrooms and 2 bath upstairs above it. I would like to span the full 30' without a center post in the garage. Can this be done without greatly increasing the cost of the beam? (By greatly I mean 2.5 to 3 times the cost of a traditional beam made of 2x10 lumber with 1/2" plywood between.) Thank you very much.
