Steel Beam Header. I am looking to widen my basement entrance and want to use
a steel beam. The wall is double brick (8") -the existing opening is
33" -it will be widened to 51". Above the beam on the ground floor is:
-10' of (double)brick 18" wide -3' of (double) brick above a 7' opening
(above opening in the basement). Above the beam on the second floor is: -11' 2x4
stud wall Roof is flat but joists (on all floors and roof) run parallel to the
wall in question. What size of steel beam would be adequate? I have headroom for
a 8" beam but a 6" would be preferable. Thanks.
