What size H beam would I need if I was tearing out a wall in my basement? The span is roughly 14' 6" in length. Now this wall is A load bearing wall. Presently it is a 2 by 6 studded wall running the length of my basement just beneath my kitchen stove & fridge. I would like to put 2 jackposts -- one at either end and nothing in the middle. Now how heavy of a weight do I need and how deep should this beam be? Your help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
