Re: PVC Piping in Pool

According to a study by Cornell University, Eastern Subterranean Termites -- commonly found in the New York area -- have been known to eat through swimming pool liners and PVC supply pipe. While this is relatively rare and PVC is generally inert to most kinds of chemicals and pests, it is possible for leaks to occur such as you describe. You might take the piece of pipe with the holes to an expert to see if these are indicative of termite holes. If so, you may need to treat your soil for termites to prevent a recurrence of the pin-hole leaks in the future.
