Since every situation is different, we are not aware of a "generic" framing plan for retrofitting bay windows into an existing opening. You might find that specifying a pre-made bay will actually be less expensive overall compared to framing out three separate windows and having to come up with a suitable framing and support system as well as exterior finish.

However, if you decide to build your own, you must find a way to support the significant weight of the cantilevered bay. If your slab edge is straight, you can angle out short cripple studs to carry the load back from the windows to the foundation. We recommend double sill plates and the use of metal straps on the outside corners of the bay (top and bottom) to help ensure structural integrity of the build-out.

Use 1/2" plywood on the outside of the bay to improve overall strength. And, of course, you'll need to plan for some kind of pitched roof above. Sometimes copper is used if the area is small and moderately sloped.
