Thanks for the reply dated 6/16/01 @ 07:11pm. These piers are visible from above ground, such as columns for a structure.

I want to make a mono pour and am interested in the connection point where the Sonotube meats the top of the pad. Are there any considerations with respect to the height of the column and the degree to which the column will want to "float" of the surface? Is there any special connection hardware to consider? Can the Column bear on the bearing soil" (I think this would cause the Sonotube material difficult to remove and laterally weaken the Tube/Pad connection point.

There will be 4 piers resting on 4'x4'x10" concrete pads with #5 rebar. I am initially planning to use 12" Sonotubes to support a 6" steel pipe which, in turn, will support 4 I beams, (W12x26)10' in length. The other end of I beams will be secured to 10" bearing surface.

Each pier s/b approx 3' 4' in height.

This system will carry (8'x20' Cargo Container) a Dead load of 5000lbs and live load of 35,000lbs. I have calculated the square footage as 200ft2 (Area of Container; 8'x20'=160ft2 plus Two foot Walkway (2'x20'=40ft2).

Thanks for the help
