In researching new ideas for building my new house, I have read a couple of
articles on foundation ventilation which conclude that traditional venting
methods are counterproductive. It seems reasonable to me that when the warm,
moist air outside meets the cool air under the house condensation is the result.
According to these articles, there is no realistic way to add enough 16"
vents to adequately air-out the crawlspace. Therefore, the logical solution
would be to keep the moisture from entering in the first place by means of
french drains, cmu sealants, vapor barriers, etc. Is there a definitive answer?
