I thank you a million times for the reply. I was unaware of the 40 PSF standard for live load and as I mentioned I am no structural engineer. Since glulams and the like run around $17 per foot in my region I will most likely use a 10" wide-flange steel I-beam, which will cost me approx. $100. I really wanted to keep it all wood, though :(
