Generally, the vinyl bead can be carefully removed prior to window replacement. However, due to the size and weight of a double-pane glass door, we recommend leaving replacement to a pro. Vinyl clad windows are unforgiving. If you accidentally puncture the surface, you might compromise the cosmetics and moisture-resistance of the door. Also, some vinyl windows are "welded" in the corners, requiring specialized equipment during the repair.
