Adding a subpanelFrom: bryanandchrissy@hotmail.com CommentsI currently have a subpanel in my shed. It is quite old and is connected to a 30-amp 220-volt breaker in the main panel in the house. I am looking at adding a new subpanel to get rid of the old fuses and to add more power. I was looking at 60 amps and 6 awg wire. My question is about the ground and the neutral. If I added a ground stake and drove in into the earth would I need to bring the ground wire back to the house? What about the neutral? On normal 220/240 volt outlets I don't recall seeing a third wire used as neutral. I do see the third wire for the stove and the dryer. Anyhow, let me know what the best practices are. The shed would require about 50 feet of wire. I would be running a table saw, air compressor and assorted wood working tools. Thanks. Regards, Bryan
