Without seeing your cabinets first hand, it's hard to know exactly what the problem is. However, one thing to check is whether your old hinges were, in fact, 3/8" offset. Offset hinges are also available in 7/16" and 1/2". It's possible that your old hinges were really greater than 3/8" and you're force-fitting smaller hinges on a door that requires slightly larger offsets. A sixteenth of an inch or two could make all the difference. I've seen this happen more than once...where it was assumed that the old hinges were the more common 3/8" variety when, in fact, they weren't. Also, it's best to loosely fit the door into place and tighten the screws allowing you some adjustment room. Also, be sure that your holes truly line up. A slight variation could be part of your problem.
